As soon as we see a feedback form with our bill, we reluctantly scribble on it in a rush to leave, believing most of them will fall in the trash anyways. Contrary to our belief, some people do pay quite a lot of attention to the details we share on the form or in person … and one such restaurant is Old Wild West ( OWW ) .
Despite having a delicious Tex-Mex fusion menu, a few of OWW’s patrons expressed their desire to have a few new options on their menu, and the staff made sure they worked on it.
Here are a few of their new additions :
Indo Mexican Paneer tilla Nachos
This was a very generous portion ! Crispy nachos, onions, tomatoes doused in cheese, mint chutney ( instead of guacamole ), chilli with a drop of sour cream. What we loved the most is its many textures ( crunchy nachos & onions, creamy sauces ) and how the spicy notes were met
by the umami flavour of the cheese.
Just one thing you need to watch out for… beware of the chopped green chillies !
Boneless, bite sized pieces of batter fried chicken were served to us in a martini glass lined with a banana leaf. Despite the crispy coating, the meat was very soft. The chicken was mildly spiced with chilli powder, and with a little squeeze of lemon you will forget the mayo its served with completely… You get a prawns version too ! If only they served these at theatres *sighs* .
Corn and Spinach Bake Potato Skins
Hollowed cups of potato oozing with a cheese & corn-spinach mix served with sour cream. The Cheese crowning each of the potatoes was a medley of mozzarella, yellow cheddar & Montery Jack… need we say more ? The cups were also sprinkled with some chilli flakes
to give you a little hit of spice.
Mexican Veg Spring Roll / Kheema Spring Rolls
The vegetarian version of the spring roll has minced vegetables sauteed in Mexican spices and tucked into spring roll wrappers. These deep fried, bite sized, crunchy rolls are served with
a sweet chilli dip and OWW’s in-house ranch dip.
The non-vegetarian version of the crispy spring rolls is filled with some spicy ( very spicy ) Kheema.
A special mention of the spring roll wrappers – Light and perfectly crisp !
Though quite a simple affair, it’s the perfect chakna. Marinated chicken & bell peppers with a curry leaf & chilli tadka served on a banana leaf. Both the bell peppers and the chicken were quite juicy while the subtle spice and tangy twist made it one of the winners of the menu for us… We scraped off every bit of masala there was. ( Don’t forget to lick it off the dried chillis )
Mexican Spiced Chicken Lollipop
Chicken lollipops marinated & deep fried in OWW’s tangy-spicy Mexican sauce.
The crunchy-saucy appetizer was one of our favourites of the new menu.
Who can resist an assortment of little burgers served with fries ?
Crispy Chicken Slider
Lettuce, Mayo & a chicken patty, reminded us a bit of Mc Donalds Mc Chicken which we love !
Oriental Chicken Slider
If you love your spice, THIS is what you should go for. The burger buns enclose a hit of spice you cannot ignore. The sauce reminded us a bit of the Mexican spiced Chicken Lollipop.
Juicy, tandoored pieces of chicken tikka with mint chutney, onions and tomato. Wasn’t the most memorable on the platter for us but for those who need an Indian twist, you will certainly love it.
BBQ Chicken Slider
A Sweet and smokey barbecue sauce dominated this slider and made it the messiest but very tasty !
The best part of the sliders was that each little burger had a good amount of juicy meat that didn’t get hidden in their effort to make each slider different with sauces, veggies & more.
Classic Double ka Meetha
OWW gave a no bake twist to the classic shahi tukda and presented it in the form of a tart garnished with rabdi, sprinkled with almond & pistachio shavings nuts crowned with caramel candy. Much to our surprise, the dessert wasn’t too sweet and the bread pudding had set very well to give you a nice, kind of creamy texture.
What broke our heart is that they bid goodbye to the delicious Tiramisu... Why ? Why ? Why ?
We also heard that OWW is planing on tweaking their cocktail menu with some exciting new Mexican additions… looks like we need to make another visit soon.
Do not forget to drop by Old Wild West soon and let us know your feedback on their new menu !
( Psst Don’t forget to try out their awesome Mashed Potatoes )
