“Chakna”… Wipe away the image of Chaklis, chanas and the chatpatas that have accompanied you with your drinks. There is a new “chakna” in town
Now awaken the true indian foodie within you… think of warm curries, food well marinated in the finest of spices, a melting cube of the softest butter and the aromas filling your senses … Have you just been transported to a North Indian cuisine?
It is no secret to any foodie that North Indian food is characterised by its thick, tasty gravies with a perfect blend of all the spices. But the speciality that we are talking about lies in the menu that you find yourself binging on much before your main course – the “chakna” – a word seldom heard at Fine Dine Restaurant.
So when Sonali Priyi Kapoor, Head Marcomm – Lite Bite Group by Dabur invited us at Punjab Grill to try out their Chakna Menu by Chef Gurpreet Singh, it took me by surprise! For a moment I thought there was a typo. After further conversation with Sonali, my doubt was cleared it was indeed a Chakna Menu. So I decided to investigate further and take a trip to Punjab Grill .
I was warmly welcomed at Punjab Grill, Juhu by Sonali who guided me to the gorgeously lit Outdoor seating. Once seated, we were given a brief about the menu and given a scroll which had the ‘Chanka’ menu written on.
A few Names on the Chakna Menu atPunjab Grill that caught my eye were
• Ganne Ka Juice Margarita
• Pineapple Thandai
• Tawa Chicken Keema
• Ambarsari Machchi
• Tandoori Kukad Wings
• Mele di Chuski
With so many varieties of dishes and drinks atPunjab Grill I had my mind in a Jumble of what all to taste. Though I managed to taste all of them and was completed full by the end of it. I was still trying to get my mind around the concept of chakna that it could be so well prepared and presented at Punjab Grill .
