Food has become such an integral part of our lives! Every day, we find ourselves drooling over a million recipe videos wishing we could pull the dishes out right through the screen. And lazy us, cooking after work seems like such a task, so we opt to visit a restaurant or order in. All this in addition to work stress, hectic schedules, sleep deprivation… and that’s just of the top off my head!
Being a food blogger too doesn’t help! Trying new places almost every odd day definitely takes a toll on my health. Weight gain, tummy issues, allergies…. Our schedules today open us to a plethora of problems that get worse, unaddressed, each day.
For all those who have been following up with me about my recent absence from the blogging scene are aware that I have been tackling a number of health issues and that’s how I decided to pen down this blog, especially since it’s the need of the hour.
What is a Preventative Health Checkup and why is it important?
A Preventive Health Checkup is a collection of basic tests done at regular intervals. These tests are conducted to detect any factors of risk of illness. They also help minimalize the damage that these ailments may cause if detected early.
If any illness is detected early, the chances of being cured are way more than when the symptoms actually start showing up. The stress is lesser, risk way lower & it is also more economical.
How often should one get a Preventative Health Checkup?
I connected with Dr. Meeth, a childhood friend of ours, who told me that it is critical to get a Preventative Health Checkup at least annually. “It is imperative for every individual to get a checkup at least once a year. The increase in levels of pollution, adulteration of food, unhealthy diets, lack of sleep and exercise, ignoring even basic symptoms of exhaustion, fever etc. all make us more susceptible Susceptible to lifestyle disorders like Diabetes, High blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome. Why suffer if you can nip the problem in the bud from the get-go?”
Where can you get these done?
You can get them done at a hospital, Pathology center, Diagnostic center, even at home! I have been going to The Suburban Diagnostic Center since they are located near both my home & my parents home.
I opt for their basic diagnostic test every 6 months (due to health concerns) but if you have no reason to be worried, once a year is more than enough.
Here are some of their packages: https://www.suburbandiagnostics.com/services/health-checkups/
My father requires blood tests twice a week and their home visit option most certainly eases the stress of travel: https://www.suburbandiagnostics.com/services/home-visits/
An allergy test is also a great idea to opt for if you find yourself constantly sneezing, or your tongue gets heavy after eating certain food, maybe rash after too?
