After introducing us to the delicious flavors of Goa with Susegado Mumbai, The LaLit Mumbai is all set to take our taste buds on a trip to the east. The Lalit Mumbai is hosting a ten-day pop up called, “Amar Sonar Bangla” from the 25th of Aug to the 3rd of Sept 2018 at their Pan Indian Restaurant – Baluchi.
The wonderful series of festivals are a result of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group’s latest F&B campaign – The Executive Chef Pop-Up, which is a unique culinary exchange program within the Group itself, initiated to bring flavors and regional cuisines of each city to another…. And boy are we glad we get to experience this first hand!
The award-winning restaurant, Baluchi, will be hosting a Bengali cuisine pop up to introduce Mumbai to the subtle (yet sometimes fiery) flavors of the Bangla Cuisine and its spread of confectioneries and desserts. To make the experience as authentic as possible, The LaLit group has flown in national awardee Chef Ms. Madhumita Mohanta !
Chef Madhumita Mohanta is the Executive Chef at The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata. Her experience in the culinary operations spans over 15 years, before joining The Lalit. She has been honoured by “National Award” for the best Lady Chef of the year, 2017 and “The Best Chef in Kolkata” by Times Food & Nightlife Awards 2018. She has exposure in creating unique gastronomic experiences worldwide, and feels closest to Bengali food. Popularly known as the kitchen queen of India, she is armed with an extensive experience in different styles of cooking, and believes in simplicity as the key to woo guests. She is an expert when it comes to gastronomical delights serving rich but almost forgotten cuisines of erstwhile Bengal such as Pur Pora Bhekti, Dhoka, Chicken Dak Bangla, Elish, Kosha Mangsho, Rajbhog, Lagcha etc.
The ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ menu had quite a few delicious options, but greedy us… we wanted it all! So, we opted to try out their Special Bengali Thali. The festival showcases two thalis, vegetarian & non-vegetarian, to ensure all their patrons can try the tasty fare they have to offer.
