The onset of the monsoons in Mumbai call for a piping hot treat to slake a craving that comes like clockwork with the first shower. For us, the piping hot treat isn’t just the end to a longing or a cliché, but a warm hug while watching the pitter-patter of the rain on our window sill.
To satiate just this innocent desire, the JW Lounge at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is introducing its patrons to a warm hug in a cup… or as they like to call it – Delish, Single Origin Cocoa Brews. The team has ensured that they provide their customers with the absolute genuine cocoa experience by bringing in cocoa beans right from the plantations of their origin.
What is Single Origin Cocoa?
Single Origin Cocoa, like the name suggests, are those beans that are grown and harvested at a particular source/origin which would be a single country (primarily), an estate, a plantation, etc. As cocoa is a plant, the terrain, soil, water etc are imperative to the taste that defines its flavour profile.
Offerings at JW Lounge
We skipped lunch for our review at JW, and boy are we glad we did! We tried every cocoa blend and we found it difficult to walk back to our car, and would you believe we still craved for more? This is what we had :

Flavour Profile – Milky, Nutty
Flavour Profile – Cocoa Bitterness, Floral Notes

The higher the cacao percentage, the purer chocolate you’re getting.
You can even spike your cocoa a bit with 30 ml of coffee flavoured Liqueur ( Kaluha ), Triple Sec ( Cointreau ) or Dark Rum ( Old Monk ).
Our favourites of the afternoon were Venezuela with a hit of Cointreau as the dark flavours of the cocoa went well with subliminal hints of citrus from the Cointreau. Also, another favourite of the evening was Saint Domingue which is undoubtedly a people pleaser with its sweet notes & silky texture.
To team up with the goodness of rich hot cocoa, the JW Lounge also serves Torched Marshmallows & Churros ( Classic / Pistachio ). Their Churros are TO DIE FOR with the perfect crispy and soft center.
